Supporting Canvas Blueprint & D2L Templates

Coming in Fall 2026: Support for Canvas Blueprints and D2L Course Templates

The 2025/2026 has been an exciting year for TimelyGrader as we have onboarded and supported hundreds of instructors and administrators, and thousands of students have benefited from faster, more consistent and more relevant feedback.

Our institutional administrators have come back with a great problem, "How to remove as much friction as possible for existing users to keep using TimelyGrader? And how do we easily provide the service for new users?"

The development team is busy gathering use cases and requirements to support individual faculty who have configured TimelyGrader to their own specifications (a course roll-over) or if an institution is wishing to support a large course/multiple instructor scenario ensuring common standards and a consistent marking threshold, the Blueprint or Templates will ensure this.

TimelyGrader will soon work alongside the course template workflows in Canvas and D2L Brightspace: Blueprint Courses in Canvas, and Course Templates in Brightspace.

Here's how it will work:

  • Your instructional design team sets up TimelyGrader once, inside the blueprint course. When a design team builds or updates a course blueprint or template, that blueprint will carry a mirrored TimelyGrader course with all its grading settings, instructions, and content bank items already configured. That means instructors, lecturers, and graders will not need to set up TimelyGrader.
  • New course shells come with TimelyGrader built in. When the blueprint or template is used to spin up new course shells, a TimelyGrader course will be created right alongside each one — no separate setup step, and nothing for the design team to repeat per section.
  • Instructors auto-import the design team's settings. Because each shell's TimelyGrader course is tied to the blueprint, instructors can pull in the settings the design team already configured, instead of building them from scratch.
  • And they land in the right course automatically. With our LTI integration, authentication is handled for them so instructors open straight into the correct TimelyGrader course, then apply the imported settings and go.

When is it coming?

This is rolling out for the Fall 2026 term. We'll share setup details with institutional partners closer to launch.
