At TimelyGrader, we’re building the assessment platform of the future. Cognitive apprenticeship makes learning processes visible. Educators model their thinking, coach students through practice, and gradually reduce support as students develop independence. Students must explain their reasoning, try different approaches, and learn from feedback.
Assessment can support that process. A written submission, an oral explanation, or a video of a practical task can reveal different aspects of a student’s understanding.
2) Preserving the productive struggle
Learning requires room to try, make mistakes, reflect, and try again. The challenge is providing enough support to help students progress while preserving the intellectual work they need to do themselves and not entirely with AI.
